FAQ on using the Real Player for Get TOEFL Test
Preparation
To download the latest Real Player,
click here. Look on the left of your screen, mid-way down. See
a blue link (Free RealOne Player) - If you don't click that link,
you will only get a free trial and after a month will be required
to pay.
Streaming media is prone to fluctuations in internet conditions
that cause problems such as re-buffering, disconnection, or failure
to connect in the first place. Get TOEFL tests these conditions
around our own networks, but cannot be responsible for prevailing
conditions across other Internet Service Providers (ISP) networks.
Your media player may 'rebuffer' as it attempts to negotiate these
conditions on the Get TOEFL listening preparation.
Q. Why are there stops or gaps while listening to a Get TOEFL test
section?
A. Excessive buffering, and/or delays in connectivity are all usually
due to stressed or strained bandwidth on the part of your Internet
Service Provider (ISP) and the bandwidth which your ISP has available
for Internet connectivity. Please understand that many Internet
users are probably connected to your ISP - especially during the
peak daytime hours - which can cause congested lines and use up
most or all of the bandwidth. If you are accessing our services
through a Local Area Network (LAN), you may experience similar problems
as a result of the number of users and/or PCs on your LAN. This
condition is almost always temporary, and if you try back later,
you will usually experience better results. You may also experience
these types of problems when your computer's resources are limited.
Try not to run other applications while accessing streaming media.

Q. I am receiving errors when trying to connect to a section while
using Netscape 6.0 & Opera?
A. You might have problems using the Netscape 6.0 or Opera Browser.
Our system requirements mandate you using Internet Explorer to access
our TOEFL preparation programs. Return to top
Q. When I click the "play" button I don’t hear anything?
A. For one reason or another your computer is not recognising the
player as the application you need in order to listen to these media
files. Reinstalling the player should straighten this problem out.
If you are a Mac user then simply reinstall the player. If you are
using a PC then you will first want to uninstall the player. Here's
how you do that: Click the "start" button. Move your mouse over
settings When the next menu appears click "Control Panel" In the
"Control Panel" window double-click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.
Select the player from the list provided and then click the "Add/Remove"
button. Return to top
Q. My connection is poor; I get static and varying sound quality.
A. This is most likely a problem with your current preferences.
To reconfigure your connection settings: Click 'Tools' > 'Options'
on the file menu. Select 'Performance' Select 'Detect my connection
speed' Select 'Use default buffering' Click 'OK' This will enable
the Real Player to adjust itself according to your connection and
offer the best possible performance. Return to top
Q. I receive JavaScript errors when I try to listen. What do I
do?
A. Some users may experience JavaScript errors because Microsoft
Internet Explorer has not been installed correctly. Specifically,
the problem is a result of a two dll's not being registered properly.
The problem can be solved by following these instructions: Click
Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type: "regsvr32 actxprxy.dll"
(without the quotation marks) Click OK, and then click OK again
when you receive the message: "DllRegisterServer in actxprxy.dll
succeeded." Click Start, and then click Run. In the 'Open' box,
type: "regsvr32 shdocvw.dll" (without the quotation marks) Click
OK, and then click OK again when you receive the message: DllRegisterServer
in shdocvw.dll succeeded. Shut down and restart your computer. Return

Q. I have a Macintosh and when I click the "play" button all I
get is a blank page with Internet addresses listed on it. What's
the problem?
A. Since Microsoft didn't release a service pack that fixed this
bug, the only workaround for this is to download the latest Internet
Explorer browser for the Mac. This should solve the problem. Return

Get TOEFL Test Preparation Refund Policies
All requests MUST be received via E-mail by support@gettoefl.com
within 48 hours after the time of purchase.
Refunds are POSSIBLE in the case of:
- The site is out of service for more than 8 consecutive hours
in which case a day of credit will be added to the program membership
duration.
- Extending the length of an existing subscription. If a Registered
Member has purchased a course for two weeks, the duration of the
course can be extended and the amount of the original purchase
applied to the two month upgrade.
Refunds are NOT POSSIBLE in the case of:
- Inability to make full use of the program. Each user is reponsible
for his/her studies. It is incumbent on the user to ensure that
his/her computer meets the stated system requirements. We highly
recommend that users try the demo sections before registering
in the program. By doing so, program operation is assured prior
to purchase. If a problem arises, Customer Serviceoffers support
as to how to get the program working satisfactorily.
- Existing usage. No subscription will be refunded after one
module of a purchased Get TOEFL course has been recorded.
- Slow performance The program is designed to perform optimally
for a computer meeting the stated system requirements.
However, we have no control over Internet bandwidth which can
affect performance, causing brief pauses in the transfer and playback
of the course.
- Reduction in subscription duration or downgrading of course
access. Please chose your subscription lengths carefully. While
we are happy to extend Get TOEFL preparation subscriptions, we
do not offer refunds for unused or unneeded portions. Longer subscription
lengths give the user the opportunity to go back and review the
content for a more thorough review program.
